The All or Nothing Trap
Despite the fact that most people abandon resolutions by the third week of January, so many of us feel inspired to start anew at the first of the year. Including me!
I think what sabotages us the most is the tendency to jump in with really big goals and the feeling, as soon as we are less than perfect in our commitment, that we’ll NEVER succeed. So, we abandon it all. It’s such a CRAZY mindset.
Of course, we can’t be perfect. There will be days or weeks we don’t do so well, or where our progress is very slow. Times that we make mistakes or find that we need to take a step back to learn new things.
And the biggest truth we forget is that this is the reality for EVERY human. Including those that accomplish really big things. It doesn’t happen overnight and the journey is a messy one. We just don’t see that part of it for the women already living the life we desire.
The all or nothing trap is in front of us whether the goal is big and grand or whether we’re just working to feel better about ourselves, find a life partner, or set some healthy boundaries. Promise yourself NOW that you will not be caught inside it.
That one thing could make this year look different.
